P-87 Solid State Microphone

The P-87 is styled after the legendary 1970's Neumann U87i. Versatile and reliable with warm well-balanced character, the '87 is perfect for a wide range of recording applications. In the 1960's as Neumann began employing phantom power, and FET transistors in place of vacuum tube circuits, they released the U 87i. The P-87 captures the sound and magic of this, perhaps the most popular microphone ever made. The P-87 comes with three on-board polar patterns, -10 dB pad, and low-end roll-off switches. We achieve balanced output with a generously sized output transformer, eliminating interference and distortion. This is a faithful tribute to the cornerstone of any well equipped studio microphone locker.

Acoustically matched pairs available upon special request.

Microphone kit comes as a complete system including: P-87 Microphone in velvet bag, Shock Mount, Hard Mount, Foam Wind Screen, all packed in a Flight Case.

Reviews & Demos

ape Op Review
'...The U 87 has long been held in high regard as a premiere vocal mic for being well balanced and very nuanced. The new P-87 is exactly this. You can use it to get great results from any accomplished singer. The mic's sensitivity and its ability to pick up so much detail give me the confidence to put it in front of someone who sings quietly. It captures the intimacy inherent to this type of whispery or husky delivery. Likewise, the mic also retains all this detail when placed in front of someone who is barking at it. Naturally, the P-87 should also be a first consideration for voiceover work...'
